FOR-TUNE: Development of new bio-based polymer materials from cellulose acetate, by reactive extrusion
The objective of the FOR-TUNE project is to take advantage of the bio-sourced nature of cellulose acetate and its availability at the industrial level in order to develop more technical, safe and environmentally friendly packaging materials in the cosmetic and food packaging application fields. The research work will be focused on the development of chemically modified (intrinsically plasticized) cellulose acetates by grafting molecules onto the skeleton of the cellulose acetate, thereby avoiding migration of the plasticizer.
