Presentation of the Homogeneous Catalysis and Polymerization unit installed on Axel’One Campus
On Friday 24th Mai 2019 the Homogeneous Catalysis and Polymerization unit located on Axel’One Campus in Villeurbanne has been presented to several industrial representatives. The unit is handled by C2P2 laboratory (Chemistry, Catalysis, Polymers and Processes) and has been designed by the manufacturer Chemspeed Technologies AG.
About 30 industrial representatives of chemistry, invited by C2P2 laboratory and by Chemspeed, attended this half-day event. During a first part, Vincent Monteil, CNRS research director at C2P2 laboratory, presented how C2P2 was using the tool for its research activities. Amira Abou-Hamdan, VP BU Materials Science at Chemspeed Technologies AG, then explained the many possible uses of the manufacturer’s units.
Didier Bonnet, executive director of Axel’One, presented the conditions of access to the tool via C2P2 or via Axel’One as well as the funding context of the tool. The unit has been funded by the SYSPROD project (for « approche SYStémique multi-échelle pour les procédés de PRODuction industrielle » in french) granted by Europe (FEDER), the french State, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the metropole of Lyon, CNRS and IFP Energies Nouvelles as part of the State-Region plan contract 2015-2020.
Then the group moved to the laboratory to attend a demonstration of the unit in operation. The tool is unique in France. It is a fully automated medium-throughput unit under inert atmosphere (argon) for catalysts synthesis and testing. It can be used for homogeneous catalysis and polymerization reactions.
