The inauguration of Axel’One Campus
Monday 23 April 2018 was marked by the inauguration of the Axel’One Campus facility. The building is on the LyonTech-la Doua campus. Axel’One Campus is dedicated to basic research. Axel’One has expanded its offer which started with the Axel’One PMI and Axel’One PPI sites.
A visit of the various collaborative projects conducted on the platform was followed by more than 70 participants before the inauguration. Projects involving polycondensation, extrusion and NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) polymer characterization were presented in the laboratories. The visits also presented metal trace analysis, multifunctional “sol-gel” coatings, 3D printing for health laboratories and homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis installations.
Then the inaugural gesture took place in front of the Axel’One Campus building in the presence of the funding members, official representatives and the founding and Premium members of Axel’One (Adisseo, CNRS, CPE Lyon, Elkem Silicones, ENS de Lyon, IFP Energies nouvelles, INSA de Lyon, Solvay, Suez and Université Lyon 1). 200 people gathered for the official ceremony after at the Astrée Theater . The speakers were Frédéric Fleury (Lyon 1 University), Philippe Jacques (Axel’One), David Kimelfeld (Lyon Metropole), Yannick Neuder (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region) and Jean-Michel Jolion (Prefecture). Jean-Paul Bret (City of Villeurbanne) and Khaled Bouabdallah (University of Lyon) were also present.
The new Axel’One Campus building has a surface of 2000 m² which include laboratories and tertiary spaces. The occupancy rate at the opening is 70% with more than 40 projects already planned. The building project management was handled by Lyon Metropole. The operation was managed by the CBXS architecture firm assisted by DA Architectes and by Oteis and ORFEA design offices. The investment was 6.15 million euros financed by Lyon Metropole for 4.24 million euros, by the Region-Auvergne-Alpes for 1.75 million euros and by the State through the Metropolitan Pact with 160,000 euros. The assignee of the building is the Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University.
