DESIRE: Development of new, low-energy industrial systems combining the adaptation of UV LED lamps and UV-crosslinking silicones for flexible media applications.
This project focuses on low-energy UV LED technology (UV emitting diodes) to improve the competitiveness of the silicone coating industry on flexible and fragile media. The project focuses on three points corresponding to three market segments: anti-adherent systems for fragile media (plastic film type), protective coatings for technical textiles (such as Air-bags) and coating on membranes and technical textiles. The project brings together industrial and academic partners to develop the synthesis of new cross-linking catalysts to adapt them to UV LED systems. At the same time, a company is working on the modification of UV LED systems to meet the needs of industrial applicators. Finally, the 2 companies using the new UV LED technology will help develop new systems on industrial lines.
