SMART SOLID: Monitoring and optimization of industrial crystallization processes
Crystallization, a unitary operation of chemical engineering consisting in the isolation of a product in the form of crystals, is both very complex and of vital economic importance. The Smart Solid project is looking to revolutionize the operation and maintenance of industrial chillers of a batch or continuous production, through digital features and the significant advances made in recent years in the development of new industrial measurement technologies. As for industrial measurements, in addition to the “conventional” sensors, acoustic and vibratory sensors are provided for mechanical monitoring of the process support equipment. Innovative online analysis technologies will be evaluated and improved to obtain the characteristics of solids. Sensor information is collected, stored and analyzed (intelligent and multivariate analysis) in a computer platform that also contains a digital twin of the crystallization operation. Comparing the data with the model maintains the operation in operational conditions, to optimize the process and predictive maintenance.
